The annual Shell Congress connects activists, artists and academics in a nurturing space. A space for deviant bodies — who don't fit into the normative grid. It is an invitation to share and to try out our practices of dissident collective imagination.
The Shell in Shell Congress is two things: the shelter from the pressure to compete, conform, produce — and also the material surfaces our activism takes place on: screens, networks, texts, images, dreams. Our aim is to foster strategies that can upheave such normative forces, leveraging the inherent dynamics of the Shell.
The past Shell Congress took place in Berlin and on the Shellscape from July 30 until August 1, 2021. You can find some info below, and a hybrid zine with lots of images and interviews is on the way to you.
The next installment, christened the "First International Academic Shell Congress" or F.I.A.S.Co. for short, will visit a University and tackle the unsafe boundaries of academic discourses and spatial practices.
